🏋️♂️ Using the Gym –
Key Guidelines for Smooth Shared Use
To keep things running smoothly for everyone at Riptide, please take note of the following:
⏱️ Class Setup Awareness
Classes require setup time—usually 30 minutes, minimum 20 minutes.
You may need to plan to be out of the area 15 to 20 minutes before - Remain Mindful PleaseContact the appropriate coach to discuss any shared needs and use to fit your PT needs
(With the weather more cool and wet, you may need to make aware that you will either need to change your times, style or content to meet the needs of your clients whilst using the riptide facility whilst any class is being run or set up striped down)During busy periods, especially before classes or when multiple PTs are working, space can get tight.
Please be mindful of shared usage and be prepared with keeping it tidy and safe and leaving room for the Class Coach, yourself + your client.
🌧️ Wet Weather & Indoor Class Prep
As autumn and winter approach, indoor space will be used more frequently for classes.
If you have clients scheduled just before a class, please keep your equipment tightly controlled and clear of key access and movement through carry areas and passage allowing easiest lines of movement for all.
This helps both the Class Coach and your PT session run more smoothly. move some the easier to move gear outside if you wish, like the benches and boxes. If no one is due in after you, please bring it back in.
📍 Using Shared Areas (Astro Rig / Gym) During Classes
If you’d like to use these areas while a class is running, reach out to the coach ahead of time to check space and kit availability.
The Coaches WhatsApp group is your go-to for quick updates, requests, or coordination. Please use it actively. (If WhatsApp isn’t convenient for you, let me know so we can find a better solution.)
🧹 Leaving the Gym Space – Respectful Reset
Whether it’s a PT session, personal workout, or group coaching:
Return all equipment to its proper place—usually where you found it.
Health and safety in mind and with clear movement and access as best as we all can manage to organise.
If you think storage could be improved, I’m all ears—just let me know.
📣 Quick Reminder!
Anything left out or in the wrong spot will likely make its way into the WhatsApp group chat— less as a punishment, more as a gentle nudge 😅.
It’s a real hassle having to tidy up after others, so let’s all do our bit to keep things in order.
Thank you for being considerate.
Let’s keep Riptide a comfortable, efficient and safe effective space for everyone.
Thanks for your attention and working with one another.
🔒 End-of-Day Closing Checklist – If You're the Last at Riptide
If you believe you're the final person using the space for the day,
please help us keep everything secure and ready for the next session by checking the following:
✅ Tech & Power
Speakers: Confirm they’re plugged in and charging.
Fans: Switch off at the mains.
🚪 Doors & Shutters & Gates
Windows Closed
Gates Locked firmly, esp the North gate with strap and combination lock (image below for best practice)
Keys back in the right place
Shutters: Bring down all.
Locks: Secure the North Store, Office Store, Astro double doors, and the main door (therapy access).
💡 Lights
Turn off all lights in:
Main room
Therapy room (internal & external)
Reception area
Toilet
Store rooms
Under-cover light, remote click button ON the south window near the office store door
🛷 Sleds
Weekends & Events: Bring sleds inside. Safe storage, being upright and bottoms facing one another
(image below as an example)Weekdays: Store slightly out of sight near Lane 1 or by the parkrun boxes.
(Please avoid leaving them out on Fridays or weekends.)
Thanks for helping keep Riptide safe, tidy, and ready for action.
Your attention to these details makes a big difference!
The Gym space and cupboards tidy up has mostly been a success
There is still a lot of kit
With regard to storing or moving some kit with all cords and straps, certainly the ones on the rig - hang them over things to keep them clear -
though don’t tie them multi wrap or tangle them over one another to get them clear of your work out space.
(If you are unsure what I am trying to say here, I can show you what I mean on another day if you like)
PLEASE BE AWARE AND CAREFUL - if the windows are open and activity is around them , they are a danger of protruding and hitting peoples heads should they leave bags outside under them….
!!! Protecting the astro surface, floor and kit
Please have no slams on the black mats that cover the astroturf or directly on the astroturf
The dents from hard thrown and dropped weights are hard to remove and present an ankle turning and tripping problem
Just use the hard floor matted area under the sheltered part or the moveable mat around on the pavement
The reason on the mat so it does not wear the numbers off the balls like what the concrete does
The new BIG Wolverson balls are not for down to ground slams - they don’t last if that is the case - though certainly good for throws or into walls is mostly fine.
Likewise - encourage putting down of all kit rather than throwing or dropping in hasty or hench ways, once again in the promotion of good use, health + safety for all users and ground protection
Thank you for all your contributions and support.

The Bars on the north end of the gym room run from 10’s to 12kg EZ to 15 Compact Bars, to some black 15’s and 2 20KG
The 10’s and black 15’s bars need a lift up to drop the lower end in behind the discs below
The 35kg Trap bars store sweetly between the rig and next to the mirror.
The other trap bars are marked for storage in the north room
with the large wall slam balls, heavy db’s, rollers, black mats, sand bags and medicine balls.
When leaving the sleds anywhere - please store them bottom to bottom
They are safer this way should they fall for any reason - the falling weight and leverage decent down the side of the lower leg or onto a foot is a hazard.
Plus - they are easy to move both at the same time (farmers carry with a mini rotation through the doors)
Be sure, when putting the Move Sonos speakers back on the charger/holder that the orange light shows up to indicate it will recharge - thank you
Any other points you wish shared on here so we can all help one another get the best out of Riptide,
please let me know.
Thanks guys
Speak and see you soon
