Riptide fire procedure
🔔 Fire Evacuation Procedure for Riptide
Raise the Alarm
Any person discovering fire must immediately activate the nearest fire alarm call point.
Staff should notify all occupants verbally if alarm is not heard.
Immediate Actions
Stop all activities (classes, therapy sessions, training stations).
Instructors and staff guide participants calmly toward the nearest exit.
Do not collect personal belongings.
Evacuation Routes
Use the two designated exits; each lead to a safe location within no more than two doors.
Ensure clear signage and unobstructed pathways at all times.
Occupants in the main gym room (12m x 6m) exit via the nearest marked door.
Occupants in the therapy room and reception area follow the posted exit route to the nearest safe door.
Outdoor Training Zone
If classes are already outside, participants remain in the training zone and move to the designated assembly point.
Do not re‑enter the building.
Assembly Point
All evacuees gather at the designated safe assembly area at the café south side outside the building, away from entrances and access routes for emergency services.
Staff conduct a headcount to confirm all persons (max capacity 24 for indoors) are accounted for.
Responsibilities
Instructors/Staff: Lead evacuation, assist anyone needing help, check rooms quickly if safe.
Bring visitor log and assist with headcount.
Lead Instructor/Coach &/or Therapist (if appointed):
Ensure both exits are clear, close doors behind evacuees if safe.Emergency Services
Call 999 immediately once safe outside.
Provide details: building layout, number of people, fire location if known.
Do Not
Do not Re‑enter the building until declared safe by Fire & Rescue Service.

Maximum internal occupancy: 30 people — manageable for quick headcount.
Two exits ensure redundancy; no more than two doors to safety keeps escape routes short.
Outdoor training zone doubles as a safe space but must connect to the assembly point procedure.
